Thank you re:connect conference
- 1 minCommunity conferences are always the best.
And amongst them, re:connect is right up there.
Running in Bournemouth every summer, the event is the spearhead of the local tech meetup scene. Hosted at the CityGate centre, right next to the train station, the gathering brought together a mix of people from all corners of the software development discipline from around Europe.
So what made it a compelling conference?
There wasn’t a huge lineup. But every speaker brought their a-game, added something unique, and offered an insightful takeaway or two.
It wasn’t the hugest audience. But every attendee came to learn, chat, to meet their peers and add their input into the collective conversation.
But that’s true of a lot of events.
So. . . what was the differentiator, making this one rank towards the top of the pile?
Honesty.
It’s as simple as that.
Reconnect wasn’t trying to be something it’s not. No heirs, no graces, and no pretentiousness. Not trying to make things seem more that they were, in the best way possible. Just a bunch of people coming together to enjoy getting geeky about our common passion whilst learning about topics on the periphery of the day to day.
If you’re looking for a friendly community to be a part of, or somewhere to drop by and deliver a talk. . . look no further than re:connect conference, {dev.talk} and the ecosystem around the pair. Great event, in a fab location.
Thanks to everyone who came along to listen to me wax lyrical about hip-hop and .NET MAUI 🙌
Can’t wait for my next visit!
