MAUI Day Cologne
- 2 minsThe 2026 set of MAUI Days are fin, wrapping up at the conferences spiritual home of Cologne.
It was so good, it might just be my favorite yet!
The six sensational speakers were joined by ~100 attendees, with deep dives on the menu across the day. Whether you wanted crashless apps, adaptable UIs, distributed coding tips, or a taste of whats to come in Dotnet 11 and beyond, there was a dish to be enjoyed.
But, as always, it was the conversations around the talks that made it so unforgettable, and so worthwhile. Comparing notes on how the framework has evolved acted as a sanity check of my own opinions. For a long time, being a MAUI dev was frustrating, however this gathering showed that the mood had changed.
- All those features we’ve been asking for are getting added, with a step change coming along with the .NET 11 release.
- Those bug we’ve all been moaning about. . . one by one they are getting sorted.
- The performance woes. . . we’re not so worried about them any more.
- The grumbles around tooling. . . well. . . we’re still grumbling. Cross platform development is tricky whatever framework you use for it, but where the team can influence things there are significant improvements coming all time.
Times are changing, and the attitude in the community shows that. Hope and excitement has replaced desperation and despondency with our choice of development stack.
Köln is the place my MAUI Day adventure began. Rocking up to the city after a 16 day business bumble a few years back, I finally got a taste of the event after watching along on social media. Being in a remote part of the UK, there are very few MAUI developers. In fact, I’d only met one up until that point. Discovering another hundred was eye opening. Becoming a part of the community in years since was welcomed. Bringing that community together on a fairly regular basis is a dream come true.
If you came along, spoke, retweeted, or even just cheered us on from afar. . . thank you for your contribution.
Organising the MAUI Day get togethers are a labour of love for the people behind the scenes. To hear the ripple of conversation over the breaks is why we do it. And I’m sure I speak for the whole team when I say that we can’t wait to do it again.
London. . . here we come!
Hopefully 😝
